joei & allan engagement pictures

A & I are doing an experimental project for a friend of ours who are getting married next weekend. Here are some of the photos we've taken of the lovely couple. Congratulations, Joei & Allan! It was very hard to find a good venue especially at winter time but the Port Credit area was amazing no matter what season. We got creative with what we had to work with.
Our hands were freezing from shooting so close to the lake but you can't tell from the touch of sun in this picture.
This is my favourite. I love the swirling branches and the touch of blue sky.
Can you tell we love this pose so much? =) Here's more!

room for nostalgia

The Meantime Girl in print! Of course, it is only for me, but still I can't help but feel excited about it. Finally, a collection of my blogs. Makes me feel so nostalgic.
Speaking of nostalgic, who knew that this picture (taken just last summer) would be so different from how things are now.

food trip

Food experiments at the Perlas' home. I guess part of my new year's resolution is to learn to make other things aside from cupcakes and to cook more filipino food. last night's menu: menudo. I can't tell you how much fun I'm having! I also made beef kare kare the other day; unfortunately, we were too excited that we forgot to take pictures. anyway, here are some other new ventures. enjoy!
My mom makes the best menudo I've ever tasted. We come over every weekend looking forward to genuine Filipino home-cooked dishes. I didn't get to see them last weekend because of our impromptu New York trip and I didn't see them this weekend because they're visiting my brother in Delaware. So after grocery shopping for some ingredients, I surprised A with this. It was his favorite too. Thank God it actually tastes like menudo! Not as good as my mom's but still.
Delectable, hmm. I have some bakers semi-sweet chocolate sitting around and since I've always wanted to learn how to work with chocolates, I thought I'd experiment with the easiest recipe I could find. They're amazing!

These were made back in January. I've always been able to make cheesecake but I've never tried the mini version and this was more fun than I anticipated. Perfect for parties, too.
Probably the most popular Filipino dish ever. And of course, no sinigang is complete without patis (fish sauce).
We bought a torch and ramekins just for this.

celeb hunting in NYC

Sick or not, I was not about to pass up the opportunity to explore the greatest city in the world, New York City. After all, I was no more than a glorified passenger/navigator.

The city never fails to amaze me no matter how many times I visit. Nothing was about to dampen my spirits. Not my sickness, not even the fact that we ended up in the shadiest part of New Jersey, or the fact that we got towed on our first night there or the two parking tickets we've collected over the weekend. It was a much needed break from the norm and overall, a satisfying trip.

So, we were looking for parking around Soho and in passing, caught a glimpse of someone who seemed like Mel B. of Spice Girls. We couldn't decide if it was really her but googling that Mel B. was in New York to promote her new fitness DVD, we decided that it was in fact her.

Another celeb sighting, Billy Crudup with his son, crossing Greene Street in Soho. Of course, I couldn't remember his name at the time. Only that he's a guy that dated Clare Danes. Apparently, there are other celebs in NYC at the time we were there. Sarah Jessica Parker at Soho Hotel (located on the same street where we parked our car!), Isla Fisher, Gossip Girl stars, Rene Zellweger and more! But of course, spotting an actor/actress in NYC is like sifting through sand, especially because New York is one heck of a busy city.

Anyway, I will post pictures soon.
