winnie the pooh cookies and graduation cupcakes

Wow. What a busy month. I still can't believe June is almost over and I still have three cupcake orders by the week's end. It's amazingly starting to feel like work! No wonder I'm so tired.
The funny thing is, I took up baking because I wanted a creative outlet to get my mind off work. A year ago, if I had told myself I could bake cookies and make my own wedding favours, I would have given up just thinking about the amount of work and planning. I still can't believe I managed to do these in a very short period of time.
100 cookies for a Winnie the Pooh themed birthday party

I wish I have the patience to take a picture of each one, but at this point, I'm too tired to even do proper editing!
So happy with the way these cupcakes turned out. I used Ghirardelli squares and mini peanut butter cups (could not find regular sized ones! weird..). And I also used the coarse sugar I bought over the weekend.

Here's a picture of them in my newly acquired cupcake boxes!
Next week: more cupcake orders and finally some wedding paper stuff!

chocolate fudge brownies mmmm....

yey for chocolate fudge brownies with mmm mmm good macademia nuts
I'm exploring new packaging ideas and I'm loving these clear vinyl boxes! So many possibilities!

After a year, I'm thinking of selling my wedding dress. This is the very first thing I bought after being engaged and though it's really hard to let go, it's time in my storage closet has come. Bought for $2200 with the crinoline, I'm still not sure how much I will sell this for. This picture was taken pre-DSLR and with my crappy point and shoot. I will get A to take a better photo, if only I can fit in it once and again! (sigh! the price of being happy and married --- a few good pounds!)
Here is a picture from our wedding. One year ago...

a year in review

Back from Vegas and a few more hours later attempting to find my luggage, we finally got home and started our would-have-been spring cleaning. Look what I found!
my memory box!
What's in a memory box? It's a bunch of these stuff! Old journals that I've had ever since I can remember. It's amazing to think these books date as far back as 1997. Enough to remind me of my crazy, tumultuous teen years. And of course, much to A's remorse, instead of actually cleaning, I spent a great deal re-reading some of these.

Before we decided to get married, we had both agreed that we wanted at least a year or two (before we plan for anythings else) for ourselves so we could take some time to travel. And just as we've intended, we've managed to do just that. We originally wanted decent sized snow globes as souvenirs from places we've been but refrigerator magnets are sooo irresistable. Here's our year in review.
The Mickey Magnet is there only because it's our first time at Disney. After all, we did go to Florida twice last year.
A parting shot.
The Bellagio dancing fountains. Picture taken by my darling husband. It actually made me appreciate Opera a little bit more.

dora & barney cupcakes

I had a busy weekend planning for these two birthday parties. I wasn't really sure how to tackle the decorating part especially for this Dora & Boots cupcake theme but here it is. I used gourmet food markers for Dora's face and experimented with Boots. Excuse the mess!

I love the idea of a candle on a cupcake!
Look, I even got boxes! I needed a way to deliver them anyway without renting out my cupcake caddys.

The Barney cupcakes were challenging just because I wasn't sure how to make a dinosaur with fondant!

Thank God for gourmet food markers! They helped a great deal in making Barney & Friends faces!
I have more projects before the end of the week for a baby shower before our mini anniversary getaway! I can't believe it's been a year! Viva Las Vegas indeed!
