I guess you can tell how much we love instant cameras. And since it's almost Valentine's day, we want you to share with us a picture of you with someone you love. It doesn't necessarily have to be a significant other. It could be your new baby, your mom, your pet, your bestfriend. We want to open this contest to everyone who's interested. Please note, we're only accepting photos until February 6, 2012 to give way for at least 6 days of voting via our Facebook site. All entries will be uploaded on our Facebook page on February 6th at midnight, to give everyone a fair start at voting. Send us your photos now, with a brief caption of why you love the one you're with in the photo you sent us at adrianandjanaphotography@gmail.com. Annnnd, the contest starts NOW! The winner will be announced on February 14, 2012.

While searching for cool photography inspired products to give out to those who joined our Win an Instax contest, we randomly stumbled upon Kikkerland Design Inc. They have the most innovative and interesting ideas from a group of designers whose creativity seems limitless. These are examples of products that can be found on their website.

hello strangers, want an instax??

Hello strangers. I haven't been here for so long, I can't help but feel oddly detached. Anyway, I hope you're all out there enjoying this glorious summer and doing more interestings than me (than I? I'm sure this is the grammatically correct version. Oh well!). I've been so tired lately trying to get sleep in the middle of window renovations. Working nights does not help at all as I come home attempting to sleep, while workers are banging away without a care in the world. Of course, it's not their fault as they were only doing what they were paid to do. It's just bad timing, unfortunately for me.

Dust and debris and no curtains or blinds have prevented me from cooking anything that resembles a meal. Aside from feeling exposed, I just can't stand the mess at home, the furniture in disarray and everything in utter chaos. I don't know if it's the mess, or the fact that I haven't been so wifely lately, but we've also been fighting an awful lot lately. I shouldn't say fighting, I guess more like bickering. But still. In fact today, we almost broke the "no-fighting-before-bedtime" rule, as I left the house for a night shift without resolution though he knew I will not be seeing him until tomorrow. But of course, knowing how we've always been, he's bbm'd me already with a sorry and a sad face which made me feel guilty because today's debacle was partly my fault and due to my stubborness and incessant need to be right. This said, I know I have some making up to do. Still can't believe sometimes how lucky I am to have such a loving husband.

He used to say, "messy house, messy mind" and I always thought this was bull. I guess he was right.

Anyway, we're taking a photography class together this summer. We haven't been able to go away and do anything due to our work and photography commitments, so it'll be fun to do something different together for a change. I'm also thinking of taking other courses to fill my immeasurable free time. I don't really have that much free time, but it's nice to think of it that way. Hopefully we'll get to do some field work and take some artistic stuff to show you guys. A few more weddings are coming up and soon enough, we'll be busy again trying to catch up. But I do hope I can whip up some cooking/wedding/crafty posts for you next week. We're cleaning these weekend and hopefully get rid of the debris that's been clouding my mind and judgement for a few days now.

Whenever I feel bad about myself, I always feel like I have to do something nice to give back, so here it is. We love this camera so much I want to give someone a chance to win this camera to share the love. All you have to do is send us your favorite summer photo taken by yourself. You can edit it anyway you want it as long as no actualy parts of the photo are altered or changed (like placing the Eiffel Tower in the background to make it seem like you're in Paris). I won't really know if you did something outrageous like that, but I expect you to be honest =) I guess I should have a deadline, otherwise, this giveaway will go on for too long. Let's just say the deadline will be September 30, 2011 to submit your summer photos to adrianandjanaphotography@gmail.com. afraid of getting too personal??

I know, I know. All you're waiting for is for me to make the final announcement of the winner of our Cool Disposable Camera Giveaway, and promise I will let you know in about 1 1/2 hours! =) I'm really excited myself. (Is it too obvious? three posts before noon...you guessed it, I'm not at work today. Although technically, editing is calling my name....)

I like to think somewhere out there, someone actually reads our blogs. Just this morning alone, we had 126 views. It's minute compared to say, the population of Toronto alone, but it's encouraging to see that there are people from the UK, Spain, Mexico, Russia, Singapore, Malaysia, Denmark, Japan, UAE, Germany and Australia who's visited our blog somehow through a random link, or a Google search. These affirmations encourage me to do more research, find more interesting and inspiring websites. Same reason we like to give away cool stuff for no apparent reason. It's amazing how a simple comment makes my day. So please, don't hesitate. Leave a note, say hi. I might just send you something nice =)

For years, I thought about whether it'll be appropriate to use my personal blog as an avenue to promote our business. Most people would say having a separate blog for our photography business is probably advisable and more professional. And yet, I can't separate myself away from my original personal blog. I think having people know me personally through my more personal posts just enhances the likability of our business. I think it gives more insight on our personality, and therefore gives our client a view of what we would be like working with them. 

Anyway, all I know is it gives me fulfillment and satisfaction however which way I am able to connect to people who read my blog. 

For now, I will attempt to make this origami strawberries with the names of the people who joined our Cool Disposable Camera Contest in them and then I'll be picking (literally) a strawberry and reveal the winner in just a little over an hour. Sooo excited!!

what's in a name? weirdest baby names in recorded history

I guess this goes under "random post" yet again as I've been trying to find ways to kill time at work by checking out how people these days are naming their kids. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for uniqueness, but I think some are just a little bit ambitious (and strange) for wanting to name their kids in such ways. I have a list of the weirdest celebrity baby names like the following (and I thought naming a female child "Girl" was weird)

1. Jermajesty - Jermaine Jackson's son. Sure, it'll make him feel royalty and he doesn't exactly go to a regular public school like the rest of us, but I have a feeling Jermajesty Jackson still cannot escape being picked on in the playground for having such a "majestic" name.

2. Why go far if you can name your kid "Superman"? Apparently, rumor has it that a New Zealand couple Pat and Sheena Wheaton wanted to originally name their kid "4Real" but was deemed unacceptable for containing a digit, so they thought of the next best thing. We have quite high expectations for you, eh Superman??

3. Audio Science - Shannyn Sossamon named her son, "Audio Science" to, I don't know, honour her love for music, or torture the poor kid. He'll get a job in the music industry and people will say, "Hey Audio" and the poor guy will not know whether they're calling him or he needs to make audio adjustments.

4. David Duchovny and Tea Leoni naming their kid, "Kyd". Certainly couldn't think of anything more original, huh?

5. I thought this was a joke, but Rob Morrow named his kid "Tu" which makes her name "Tu Morrow". Smart? I think so. (Sure, it's hilarious, but really???)

6. Toni Braxton naming her kids Denim and Diezel. Boy, she loves those jeans!

7. Repeat offenders Bob Geldof and Paula Yates naming their kids "Little Pixie", "Fifi Trixibelle" and "Peaches Honeyblossom". I'm not sure who to feel sorry for first.

8. Sage Moonblood - Sylvester Stallone's. I don't even know what to say about that. And people made a big deal about Gwyneth Paltrow naming her daughter "Apple"

9. Bronx Mowgli. Seriously. This kid needs some serious fending for himself in grade school. Great job, Pete and Ashley.

10. Some actor named Dan Cortese named his kid Tabooger. Please let this be just a rumor.

Other weird, not so celebrity names we've heard: Feel free to use them as you please (not!!)

• Crystal Chandelier
• Immaunique (pronounced "I'm a unique" and get this her middle name is "child" -- I guess pretty unique then huh?
• Kiwi (a fruit! not a child's name. I don't care how much you love kiwi! How would you feel if you were named "Watermelon"??)
• Kal-el
• Moxie Crimefighter
• Queen Elizabeth (yes, these are first names)

I apologize for the sloppiness and late postings. A and I must have gotten something right before we left, or  on the plane or something to explain how sick we both have been the last few days. In between work, all I ever wanted to do was sleep, which is weird for me, because God knows I always find something amusing to do.
