Vendor Review: Cake Rolls

In December, we were commissioned to take cake pictures for my bestfriend's cake shop. Here are some of her creations.

We grew up loving different kinds of cake rolls which was a popular party food in the Philippines.

This bake shop was a dream come true for Rowena. It was a long time coming but I never doubted that she would one day carry out this dream of starting her own cake shop. I'm so proud of her!

vendor review: Toby's Floral Arrangements

It's so much fun to come across the same vendors when covering different events. We've already worked twice with the wonderful ladies of Toby's Floral Arrangements in less than a year. A true evidence that word-of-mouth networking really works. Here are some of their sample floral arrangements. For info regarding Toby's Floral Arrangements, scroll down below.

I love this bouquet! Can you tell I'm a hydrangea fan??

Very creative centerpieces!

new ventures

So excited to share with you, our new business cards!

Love the pearl paper and the nice shimmery texture =) Thank you, mpixpro!

Speaking of new ventures, my bestfriend's cake shop opened on the weekend. Welcome to your new favourite cake store: Cake Rolls!

Her store was custom designed by the very talented interior designer, Ms. Marife Nepomuceno. Love the decor and coordinating colours and accents she used to put together Wheng's second home.

Wheng created custom cake samples all throughout the store to inspire future cake buyers.

Sisters from another mother. The girls who laboured and worked together all week to help with clean-up and start-up.

I can't tell you how proud I am of my bestfriend. I remember talking to her many years ago about our dream of putting up a cake shop and here she is, living her dream, without fear of whatever challenges that may lie ahead. She is truly an inspiration to all of us who dream of being successful in doing the things we love. Bru, I hope you know I'm here to support you every step of the way. You're the best!

Come and visit her store and her temporary website!

Featured Artist: Rowena Abat

A lot of people who've ordered cupcakes or are planning to order cupcakes have asked me if I make bigger cakes and my answer was always "No". The truth is, even after baking for awhile, without formal training, I still feel somewhat unsure. My best friend however, has turned her passion into beautifully crafted and artful cakes. What started out as a love for baking has turned into her quest to learn more and create the most amazing cakes. She's also dedicated herself in training to improve her love for handcrafting these beautiful cakes. Very Cake Boss indeed!

From the very first cake we made together....(by the way, she did all the baking and fondant covering...I just helped with decorating)

to this....

a barbecue cake for your summer parties!

 beautiful wedding cakes!

 just WOW!

shower cakes!

 birthday cakes!

my favorite ruffle cake! A joint effort! Cake by Rowena, paper decorations by yours truly!

and even character cakes!
