I'm big on breakfast recently. We haven't been really eating proper breakfast so I've been looking for ways to spruce up and make breakfast more exciting. It is, after all, the most important meal of the day or so my mom would say.

mmm cinnamon!

It's been awhile since my last food post, so this one is long overdue! We're repainting our tiny place and so our diet has been reduced to easy to eat meals, lots of take out and sometimes not so appetizing meals, hence the lack of pictures. Well, this doesn't really qualify a meal but it's the first time in a long time that I actually cracked open a recipe book, followed measurements and made my own ground nutmeg. I tell you, this one took longer to make than eat =)

This is French breakfast puffs -- straight from page 66 of "The Pioneer Woman Cooks"

I guess in theory, anything made of cinnamon sugar is a sure hit! I had some real nutmeg from our Grenada trip...the actual nut/seed? not the ground ones and I wasn't really sure if I prepared it right haha. I cracked the shell open and used my small grater as if to zest a lemon. Occasionally there are bigger nutmeg pieces, I guess as a residue of my uneven grater. It came out okay though. Love the smell of nutmeg and cinnamon that filled our newly painted kitchen =)

I'm dying for a vacation! We've been so busy this summer that it came and went and now it's cold again *sigh*. At least there's the colours of fall to look forward to.

Hope to take some nature shots on our next impromptu trip!

textures, textures!

The thing about taking time off in editing is it helps open up my mind to the possibility of new perspectives. I find that sometimes, though it seems there's only one way to look and see a photograph, leaving it alone and coming back to it after awhile allowed me to see it in a different way. I know this doesn't seem to make much sense, but it works for me, and I'm glad I'm able to view things this way, instead of blaming it to procrastination. So in the middle of editing, we are taking short breaks. Enough that we got so bored, we're actually repainting our living room. Yup, we're that type of people, the can't-sit-still-without-doing-anything people. I guess in many ways, that's a good thing =)

it's gonna be a bright, bright sunshiny day! =)

I'm feeling very optimistic as you can see =) Halfway done with editing with another one coming this weekend. I'm learning new ways of exercising my legs while sitting at my desk. Maybe eventually I'll figure out how to do yoga while editing. It could be very relaxing, no?

Anyway, first of, some detail shots...

It sucks that we don't have a macro lens yet, otherwise this would have been a more interesting shot. Love the bokeh though. Poor ladybugs, is there no privacy anymore? No respect! Haha

I love the sun rays and grainy-ness of these pictures. It just creates and infuses that sunshiny feeling in these photographs.

I love this velvety, vintage like purple couch. Myriam's wedding dress looked beautiful on it.

Well, hello there!

...been A.W.O.L. for more than a month now. Thank you all for keeping us busy =) Not that we're not loving this busy summer season, because we are. Did I mention I love weddings??? I love seeing how well everything goes once all the little tiny details are put together. And I'm sure the brides (well, mostly the brides) who spent so much time planning are also relieved when everything goes smoothly the day of. Of course, the chaos that goes with it is sometimes really fun too.

We will be updating very, very soon. I hope sooner than a month! Haha. Editing is really taking a toll on both of us recently, but hang tight, because better things are coming =). On a brighter note, we now have a Facebook page. Yey! So look us up and please Like us. We would appreciate it very much.

We're hanging out in the sticky and humid Toronto summer. O, vacation, where art thou? Although, we're planning a mini-get away very soon! Sigh...so much stuff to look forward to!

happy canada day!

It's been a busy month of June. I didn't even realize I didn't get to post even once within those 30 days! Anyway, first things first. I've been working on these two engagement photobooks to be used as guestbooks for our clients' upcoming weddings. You can view them by clicking on the pictures.

I love this picture of Sean and Rael. There's something very summer-y (sp? haha) about it.

This book is for Therese and Alex. I hope they enjoy it as much as we had putting it together!

June is anniversary month. We had originally planned to stay home and not do anything extravagant since we're both so busy with work but thank God for West Jet, we had a really memorable time in....

It was sooooo beautiful there!

This is Horseshoe Bay Beach and the closest to where we stayed at. This stretch of beach was phenomenal. Love, love, love the pink sand!

It was a very short trip but for what it's worth, it was the most memorable one of all. We love Bermuda and would definitely go back there again!

And I thought April was chaotic!

It's almost mid May and I haven't updated. I hate that it's starting to feel like a chore! Our weekends are pretty much booked with engagement sessions and we've been praying for good weather since it's been crazy the last few days. It's crazy when we get nice and sunny weather on days we couldn't shoot, and cold and gloomy on days we've actually booked for photo sessions! It's been a pain trying to coordinate schedules but at least I am now invitation-free (finished all my invite orders and won't be taking more in for awhile! whew!). Anyway, these pictures are not recent but I just realized I haven't actually posted them. These were taken during the winter so most were indoor shots around Downtown Toronto.

A loves the idea of blurred backgrounds and here, he achieved just that with the people walking around the mall making it seem like there were no other people there except for Alex and Therese. The funny thing is, he had to use a tripod for this trick and we were hounded by security guards everywhere we went because apparently, you can't use a tripod while taking a picture inside the mall. Isn't that a strange rule??

I guess don't even ask how we took this one. It was tricky!

Last year, I made tiny flower bouquets for mother's day. I did the same this year, but with my handmade cards.

I also made cinnamon buns. Oh how I missed the smell of fresh bread!

The night before, we were trying to figure out what to do with leftover strawberries, (2lbs. of strawberries were selling for $4! I thought it was a really good deal ). I had made a mini strawberry shortcake cake the day before which I didn't take a picture of because I felt horrified by my icing skills. I used regular whipped cream and though, it tasted amazing, I didn't think it was photograph worthy. Anyway, I guess, the point is, we had so much leftover strawberries and I had to be creative with what to do with the rest. And since we've been itching to go to Canada's Wonderland just to eat some funnel cake, here's what we came up with.

Here's what we had for dinner a few days ago. I love stir-frying things! Isn't it obvious? haha. Anyway, I had some chicken breast and I didn't really know what to do with it. So I marinated the chicken in salt, pepper, lemon and a little bit of cayenne pepper. I stir fried some vegetables (baby bokchoy, zucchini, baby corn and whatever else in the fridge) with a little bit of soy sauce and topped the vegetables with the fried and browned chicken pieces. Just to make it extra yummy, I drizzled some thick teriyaki sauce on top.

I guess that's it for updates! Speaking of something new, look what I have to wear.

I say I have to because the last time I wore glasses was at least 6 or 7 years ago. I love the idea of bold frames although I'm not really sure if they suite me. Anyway, I just might post a picture of me wearing them someday. For now, Prada and I have to get acquainted =)

a brand new day =)

Had a nice walk around the neighborhood today. The weather was great and it wasn't too hot to run errands. Naturally I found other things that weren't really on my grocery list. I love HomeSense! There's always so much stuff to see and explore. I could spend hours and hours there! Look what I found!

I read somewhere that this tea blend is full of vitamins and anti-oxidants and is supposed to be really good for you. It was $6.99 for 14 tea bags and with a little bit of honey, it was actually very refreshing. And what do you know, the smart ladies who created this are Canadians =)

Anyway, how cute is this plate??

Are you loving the rounded corners?? Me too! Anyway, it seems I'm addicted to cute ceramic plates. I had to stop myself from buying all the dessert themed plates they had in store!

When I got home, I retried the butter chicken recipe.

Just for kicks, I added some coconut milk. A said it was much better than the first time he tried it. (Of course he would say that! haha!)

Back to work tomorrow! Sigh!
